The weather here today is freezing with the occasional flurry of snow, which is refusing to settle. Come on snow we have unused sledges sitting in the garage, waiting to play!
I have just finished my latest craft project, it’s toilet roll art!
I found this one here on pinterest, in the shape of a heart and knew it was just the thing to fill a large empty wall in the little princess’s bedroom.
This is the third piece of toilet roll art that I’ve done, it’s an easy, effective way of sprucing up a boring wall.
Toilet Roll Wall Art
You will need:
- Toilet rolls – I used 46 {ish}
- Glue
- Scissors or guillotine
- paper clips
- Paint or Spray Paint
- {Finished size – 93cm wide x 84cm high}
I used regular ready mixed paint which I already had at home and just so happened to be the perfect colours. I have used spray paint on a previous project and it so much quicker than painting by hand, if you do make sure its outside on a calm day or in a box.
Painting Note:
Using a brush – paint then glue
Using spray – glue then spray
Ready mixed paint from Hobbycraft: Pink, Light Blue, Cerise and Mint.
1. Squash…… Take your toilet rolls and flatten them.
2. Cut……You can cut yours to any size you like, I made mine 2cm thick.
Different branded toilet rolls come in different widths.
I used the larger stripes to make 6 petal flowers and the smaller ones for 5 petal flowers.
3. Glue….. Now its time to make the flowers! lay your ‘petals’ in a line and blob a dot of glue on the end of each one.
4. Clip…….Stand the petals up and use a paper clip to hold the petals together whilst the glue dries.
All stacked up and ready for painting!
5. Paint…..
Yeah! Dont they look pretty?
6. Arrange…..Now you can start making your chosen design, use paper clips again to hold everything together until you’re happy.
7. Glue….. Glue the flowers together holding with the paper clips again, until completely dry………and enjoy!!!!!!!
I absolutely love how its turned out……..go on have a go, its such a fulfilling feeling to make something for your home, that ….
a. You’ll probably have most of the materials already and
b. Its inexpensive.
you’ll be surprised how quickly toilet rolls mount up, once you start saving them, ask friends and family too if you can’t wait!
Happy crafting ♡
